Grounded is a film that first stuns you with its visuals and then hammers you with its themes.
Beautifully directed by Kevin Margo & Barrett Meeker, the experimental short film transcends the trappings of most short films gaining attention today by not being a punchline or all about it’s visual effects (which are spectacular but intrinsic to the story).
Derron Ross is terrific as the “Traveler”, and emotes so much without ever uttering a line.
The experimental nature of the film leaves it open to multiple interpretations, but that’s strength. After watching the film a few times, it’s still one I can’t shake off and stop thinking about. That’s the highest praise I can give any film.
