Inspiration: Ghost (2011)

Inspiration: Ghost (2011)

My first inspiration is a film posted to Vimeo just a few days ago.  It’s called Ghost by Tobias Gundorff Boesen and is a hauntingly beautiful film shot on a pair of DSLR’s, the Canon 5D MKII and a Canon 7D.  The film is an experiment in storytelling where the filmmaker wanted to explore emotion and mood and avoid dialog and traditional narrative.

While this film is sure not be everyone’s cup of tea, you can’t deny the artistry that went into the art direction, cinematography and sound design.  Films like this are exactly what these new tools allow.  Experimentation.  Experimentation opens up new possibilities and makes for better film-making.

EDIT: 1/24/2011 – Planet5D is now featuring this short as well, and included some behind the scenes descriptions and photos from the filmmakers.  You can see that here.
